01 / THE HISTORY

The reference.
The reason.

An orange dial in 1967.

DOXA dates the original SUB 300 to 1967. Its orange dial and broad steel case give this project a specific historical reference within the larger story of recreational diving.

Time and depth on a bezel.

The SUB’s bezel paired elapsed-time markings with depth-related no-decompression information. DOXA describes development with U.S. Divers. Our graphic will interpret the visual history, not provide a usable dive table.

The wider underwater era.

The 1960s were also a period of underwater habitat experiments. The 1965 SEALAB II photograph below gives context for that exploration culture. It is not evidence of DOXA equipment being used on the mission or of a connection with Hourworn.

03 / THE HOURWORN INTERPRETATION

From reference
to artwork.

An orange-dial watch and an anonymous period scuba diver are the proposed focal points. The plan is restrained underwater detail and a compact upper-back print with Hourworn branding. The title card shown here records the direction; finished artwork is still to follow.

Historical images are presented for context and are not the shirt print. This is an independent Hourworn project, with no affiliation with or endorsement by the referenced watch brands.
